This guitar, inspired by the iconic designs of the early '60s, features a distinctive shape with a striking contrasting tone in its cutaway scoop. Its neck carve, scale length, and fingerboard radius are modeled after Mayer's vintage favorites, while the updated PRS-style headstock and locking tuners bring contemporary reliability and style. Plug the Silver Sky into any tube amp, and its vintage-style single-coil pickups will deliver rich, glassy tones with outstanding clarity. This guitar also boasts a bone nut, molded metal jack plate, custom fret-wire, and PRS's double-action truss rod, making it a modern masterpiece available at Guitar World Australia.

Classic Neck Design with Modern Enhancements

The PRS Silver Sky’s bolt-on neck is meticulously designed to echo the feel of John Mayer's beloved vintage guitars. The fingerboard, featuring 22 custom-sized frets, a 25.5" scale length, and a 7.25" radius, offers a comfortable playing experience. At Guitar World Australia, we understand the nuances of classic American electric guitars, and the Silver Sky's neck feels just right in your hands. The modified PRS-style headstock ensures consistent string length behind the nut, enhancing intonation and accommodating Mayer's playing style. Additionally, vintage-style closed-back tuners with modern locking mechanisms ensure stable tuning and quick string changes.

Exceptional Single-coil Pickups for Superior Tone

The PRS Silver Sky is equipped with three single-coil pickups that capture the essence of early '60s American electric guitars. These pickups produce a round, full tone with sparkling highs and remarkable harmonic detail. When paired with a tube amp, the Silver Sky delivers a dynamic growl and excellent note definition. The pickups also feature modern enhancements, such as a higher signal-to-noise ratio and noise-canceling in-between positions. Precision-valued electronics ensure consistent performance across all three pickups, making this guitar a versatile choice for any player.

Reliable Tremolo System with Vintage Appeal

The Silver Sky’s tremolo system combines classic design with innovative features. The PRS unthreaded tremolo arm includes a small set screw to adjust its position perfectly. Gen III knife-edge screws provide a smooth, reliable return to pitch. As per John Mayer's specifications, the tremolo rests flush against the guitar body in a neutral position, allowing only downward pitch bends. This setup enhances the guitar's acoustic resonance and improves the signal-to-noise ratio of the pickups, ensuring a rich and expressive sound.

Specifications

Feature

Description

Body Type

Solidbody

Neck

Bolt-on maple neck with a vintage-inspired design

Fingerboard

Rosewood fingerboard with 22 custom-sized frets, 25.5" scale length, and 7.25" radius

Headstock

Inverted PRS-style headstock, modified for improved intonation

Pickups

Three single-coil pickups for glassy, musical tones

Tremolo

Classic-styled tremolo with unthreaded trem arm and Gen III knife-edge screws

Tuners

Vintage-style closed-back tuners with modern locking mechanisms

Additional Features

Bone nut, molded metal jack plate, retooled knobs, PRS double-action truss rod

Visit Guitar World Australia to experience the PRS John Mayer Silver Sky and understand why it’s considered a modern classic.
