Taylor reworked its 700 Series around all-solid Hawaiian koa in 2022. The 722ce Grand Concert and 724ce Grand Auditorium brought two body sizes to that introduction, rather than simply adding a new colour to the earlier range.

Select-grade koa and a thin finish

Taylor described the wood as Select-grade Hawaiian koa and chose an ultra-thin, open-pore matte finish. The maker also discussed voicing and bracing changes as part of the design. This 700 Series approach should not be confused with every guitar carrying a koa veneer or with the separate Koa Series.

Two body sizes to try

The Grand Concert 722ce offers the smaller body of the pair, while the Grand Auditorium 724ce follows Taylor’s larger, versatile body format. Try both with your own playing style and compare reach and response rather than assuming a timber name determines the whole experience.
