Originally published 14 March 2023. Updated 14 October 2026. This is historical coverage; specifications and availability should be checked against the exact current model.
The original 2023 article compared the first-generation Shure AONIC 50 with Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones. It should not be treated as a comparison with every Bose headphone or with Shure’s later Gen 2 models.
Connection options
Shure’s first-generation AONIC 50 guide lists aptX, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, SBC, AAC and LDAC. USB-C supports charging and digital audio, with a separate analogue cable option. A supported codec is useful only when the source device also supports it; a long list does not guarantee better sound for every listener.
Comfort and noise cancellation
Both the exact model and the listener matter. Compare fit with your glasses, ear-pad pressure, controls, noise-cancelling behaviour and how you intend to travel or work. The source article did not provide controlled measurements supporting a blanket claim that Shure always cancels more noise or feels more comfortable.
Check the generation
AONIC 50 Gen 2 introduced a different feature set. Do not apply its battery, processing or codec specifications to the earlier SBH2350 model. For an older or used pair, check battery condition, ear pads, included cables and the correct manufacturer guide.
The retained cover is source lifestyle photography showing headphones, rather than a comparative test result. Choose according to your device, listening preference and required connections instead of relying on an unqualified brand winner.
