The Yamaha DBR10 10-Inch Powered Loudspeaker is the compact powered box for the acoustic duo, the solo singer and the wedding DJ who need real output from something that fits in the boot. It puts 700 watts of bi-amped power behind a 10-inch driver, reaches 129 dB SPL and carries a two-channel mixer, all in a black plastic cabinet weighing 10.5 kilograms. The DSP is what earns the price: it protects the drivers and keeps the balance right whether it is on a stand or on the floor as a monitor.
The amplifier delivers 500 watts dynamic to the 10-inch low-frequency driver and 200 watts to the high-frequency driver, 700 watts in total with 325 watts continuous. Maximum output at one metre on axis is 129 dB SPL, which is more than a small room can take. The bass-reflex cabinet has a 90-degree nominal coverage pattern, so a pair on stands covers a function room evenly.
Crossover is at 2.1 kHz with FIR-X tuning, a linear-phase FIR filter that keeps the two drivers in step through the vocal range. D-CONTOUR multi-band dynamic processing has FOH/MAIN, MONITOR and OFF settings, so switching the box from main to wedge duty is a single control rather than a rethink of the EQ.
Input 1 is a combo XLR/quarter-inch jack and input 2 adds a second combo plus two unbalanced RCA sockets, enough for a mic, a guitar and a phone or laptop with no external mixer. The XLR output can pass channel 1 straight through or send a mix of both channels, so you can link a second DBR10 or feed a sub.
At 10.5 kilograms with a single top handle, it is a one-hand carry from the car to the stand. The 35-millimetre pole socket in the base fits a standard tripod or sub pole, and two flying points underneath take M8 by 15-millimetre eyebolts for installed use. Optional Yamaha BBS251, BCS251, BWS251-300 and BWS251-400 brackets are available for wall and ceiling mounting.
The cabinet is 376 millimetres tall and 289 millimetres deep in moulded plastic, so two of them stack in a hatchback beside a keyboard. A four-speed fan keeps the amp cool and quiet during a soft set. Power consumption is 18 watts at idle and 60 watts at one-eighth power, on 100 to 240 volt mains.
