The Yamaha DBR15 15-Inch Powered Loudspeaker is the box you buy when a 12-inch main is not quite moving enough air for the room. It pairs a 15-inch low-frequency driver with 1,000 watts of bi-amped power and hits 132 dB SPL, with a two-channel mixer and DSP built into the black plastic cabinet. For a covers band playing bigger pubs or a mobile DJ who wants kick drum you can feel without a sub, this is the sensible main.
The bi-amped power stage sends 800 watts dynamic to the 15-inch low-frequency driver and 200 watts to the high-frequency driver, with 465 watts continuous across both. Maximum output on axis at one metre is 132 dB SPL. The larger cone gives more low-end reach than the DBR12, which is what you notice on bass guitar and electronic kick.
The crossover at 2.1 kHz uses FIR-X tuning, a linear-phase FIR filter that keeps the low and high drivers arriving at the listener together instead of smearing the vocal range. D-CONTOUR multi-band dynamic processing offers FOH/MAIN, MONITOR and OFF settings, so the same cabinet is tuned correctly on a stand out front or lying on its side as a wedge.
Input 1 is a combo XLR/quarter-inch socket and input 2 is another combo alongside two unbalanced RCA jacks, so a microphone, an instrument and a media player all go straight in. The single XLR output switches between a parallel through of channel 1 and a mix of channels 1 and 2, handy for linking a second cabinet or feeding a subwoofer.
The 35-millimetre pole socket in the base sits it on a tripod stand or a sub pole. Two flying points underneath and one at the rear take M8 by 15-millimetre eyebolts for installations, and the cabinet shape lets it work as a floor monitor. Optional Yamaha BBS251, BCS251, BWS251-300 and BWS251-400 brackets cover fixed wall and ceiling mounts.
The moulded plastic cabinet weighs 19.3 kilograms and is 378 millimetres deep, with two side handles for a two-person lift onto tall stands. A four-speed fan cools the amplifier and only speeds up when it is being worked hard. Power consumption is 18 watts at idle and 74 watts at one-eighth power, on 100 to 240 volt mains.
