Yamaha DZR12 12-Inch Powered Loudspeaker is the 12-inch two-way in the DZR range, carrying the same 2000 W Class-D module, 139 dB SPL and 96 kHz DSP as its bigger siblings in a box that one person can lift onto a pole. It is the all-rounder for a band PA, a corporate room or a hire fleet that wants the same speaker to work as a main, a fill and a wedge. Black plywood cabinet with a rotatable horn.
12-inch woofer and a titanium compression driver
The 12-inch cone runs a 3-inch voice coil on a neodymium magnet, so the box stays light and the bass stays controlled at level. Above the 1.8 kHz crossover a 1-inch throat compression driver with a 2-inch voice coil and titanium diaphragm covers the top through a 90 by 60 degree horn that rotates for vertical mounting.
2000 W Class-D, 139 dB SPL
The amplifier is rated 2000 W, 1000 W per section, with 950 W continuous divided 850 W to the woofer and 100 W to the top. Maximum output is 139 dB SPL at one metre, which is loud enough that the limiter is rarely the thing you hear.
96 kHz DSP with FIR-X crossover
Converters and processing run at 96 kHz, and the FIR-X linear-phase crossover keeps the woofer and compression driver time-aligned through the handover. Vocals stay coherent as they cross from the cone to the horn.
Inputs, outputs and the DSP through
Two combo inputs take line level up to +24 dBu at 20 kOhm, so a hot console output will not clip the front end. Two XLR outputs feed the next box: channel one is a fixed through and channel two switches between through and DSP out.
Pole, fly, bracket or wedge
Two 35 mm pole sockets give a choice of level or 7 degrees down, twelve M10 rigging points suit flying, optional UB-DZR12H and UB-DZR12V U-brackets cover walls and ceilings, and the cabinet sits at a symmetrical 50 degree angle as a floor monitor.
Cabinet, cooling and weight
The plywood enclosure has a durable polyurea coating in black and two die-cast aluminium side handles. A V-Lock IEC inlet keeps the mains lead in, variable-speed fan cooling handles a long night, and draw is 45 W idle and 150 W at one-eighth power. The box is 450 mm wide, 394 mm deep and 21.4 kg, and an SPCVR-DZR12 cover is available.
