Solid spruce top on a full dreadnought

A solid spruce top moves more freely than a laminate and opens up the more it is played, so the FG800 improves with the hours you put in. The dreadnought body is 412mm wide and 100 to 118mm deep, which is where the volume and low-end push come from when you strum hard. Back and sides are nato or okume, with black binding and a tortoise-pattern pickguard against the gloss.

650mm scale, 43mm nut, die-cast tuners

The 650mm scale gives standard string tension and a clear, punchy attack with a pick. The nato neck has a matt finish that does not grab a sweaty hand, and it carries a walnut fingerboard with a 400mm radius, a 43mm nut and 11mm string spacing that leaves room for fingerpicking. Die-cast chrome TM29T tuners hold pitch far better than the open-gear sets found on cheaper starter guitars.

Set up and ready
