Yamaha FS850 Concert Acoustic Guitar - Natural

Yamaha FS850 Concert Acoustic Guitar - Natural is the all-mahogany answer to the concert-body FS range: a solid mahogany top on mahogany back and sides, for players who want a drier, more midrange-forward sound than spruce gives. The Natural gloss finish leaves the mahogany grain on show front and back.

Solid mahogany top, mahogany back and sides

A solid mahogany top responds differently to spruce, with a softer attack and a strong midrange that sits well under a vocal or in a fingerstyle arrangement. Back and sides are mahogany too, and scalloped bracing keeps the top light. The body is gloss-finished with mahogany and cream binding and an abalone soundhole inlay ringed in black and white.

Concert body on a 634mm scale

The concert body is 380mm wide, 497mm long and 90mm to 110mm deep, so it tucks under the arm rather than pushing it out. Scale length is 634mm and total length 1021mm, which makes for slightly lower string tension than a 650mm dreadnought.

Rosewood fingerboard and bridge

The FS850 moves up to a rosewood fingerboard and rosewood bridge on a matt-finished nato neck. The fingerboard radius is 400mm, the nut is 43mm urea with 10mm string spacing, and the saddle is urea.

TM29T tuners, no electronics

Die-cast chrome TM29T tuners and black ABS bridge pins with white dots round out the hardware, with a tortoise-pattern pickguard protecting the top. There is no pickup or preamp fitted, so this is an acoustic first and only. It comes strung with Yamaha FS50BT or D'Addario XT.
