Yamaha Pacifica PAC612VIIFM Electric Guitar - Translucent Black

The Yamaha PAC612VIIFM is the Pacifica for players who have outgrown their first guitar and want session-grade parts without a custom-shop price. A flamed maple top in Translucent Black with a matching headstock, a Seymour Duncan HSS pickup set, a Gotoh bridge, Grover locking tuners and a TUSQ nut. Every part you would normally upgrade is already done.

Flamed maple top on alder, matching headstock

The body is alder with a flamed maple top and a headstock finished to match. The bolt-on maple neck is a 648mm (25-1/2 inch) scale with a rosewood fingerboard, a 350mm radius and 22 medium frets. A 3-ply black pickguard frames the pickups.

Seymour Duncan HSS with a push-pull coil split

The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan TB-14 humbucker, with single coils in the neck and middle positions for an HSS layout, selected by a 5-position lever switch. Controls are master volume and master tone, and the tone knob pulls up to split the humbucker into a single coil. The in-between positions give the classic single-coil mix, the humbucker drives an amp hard, and the split gives a brighter, thinner bridge sound for cleans.

Gotoh 510 tremolo, Grover locking tuners, TUSQ nut

The bridge is a Gotoh 510T FE-1 tremolo with 10.8mm string spacing, and it returns to pitch cleanly because the other end of the string is held by Grover locking tuners and a Graph Tech TUSQ nut. Locking tuners also make string changes quick. Strings are D'Addario EXL120, 0.009 to 0.042.

A neck that suits most hands

Width is 41mm at the nut and 51.4mm at the 12th fret, with a depth of 20.9mm at the first fret and 22.9mm at the 12th. Combined with the 350mm radius and medium frets, it is a comfortable neck for chords low down and fast single-note runs up high.
