The Yamaha Pacifica PAC112VM is the step-up 112: the same alder body and bolt-on maple neck as the 112V, with a maple fingerboard, Alnico V pickups all round and a coil-split on the tone control. In Red Metallic with a three-ply white pickguard, it is a proper player's guitar at a first-guitar price.

Alnico V pickups and a coil split

Two Alnico V single coils and an Alnico V humbucker give the 112VM a warmer, more dynamic response than ceramic pickups. Pull up the tone knob and the humbucker splits to a single coil, so the five-way switch effectively gives you eight usable sounds, from full-fat rock at the bridge to glassy cleans in position four.

Maple fingerboard, medium frets

The maple neck and fingerboard bring a brighter snap to the attack and a smooth, fast feel. Twenty-two medium frets sit on a 350 mm radius, with a 41 mm nut and a comfortable 20.9 mm neck depth at the first fret.

Vintage tremolo with block saddles

The vintage-style tremolo uses block saddles for better sustain and tuning stability than bent-steel types, and die-cast tuners hold pitch through a set. The alder body keeps the weight sensible and the sound balanced.

Red Metallic

A deep metallic red over alder with a white three-ply guard and a maple neck: the classic Pacifica look. Strung 9 to 42 from the factory.
