Yamaha SLG200S Silent Guitar, Steel-String - Natural

The Yamaha SLG200S is a steel-string acoustic you can practise on at midnight, record through a cable, or fold up and take on a plane. Instead of a resonating box it has a mahogany body core inside a detachable rosewood and maple frame, with Yamaha's SRT Powered pickup and preamp giving a full acoustic sound in headphones or down the line out. This one is the Natural finish.

Detachable rosewood and maple frame

The upper frame is rosewood and maple and comes off for travel, leaving a slim mahogany body that is 356mm wide and 85mm deep. Total length is 978mm with the frame on. Acoustically it is quiet, which is the point: you hear the strings, the neighbours do not.

SRT Powered pickup and preamp

The Studio Response Technology (SRT) Powered system is built to deliver a natural acoustic sound through headphones or the line out, and the SRT Blend control lets you mix that studio-style sound against the direct pickup. Bass and treble controls sit on the body, with a Line OUT for a PA or interface and a DC-in socket.

Effects, tuner and an aux input

Reverb 1, Reverb 2 and Chorus are adjustable on the body, so practising in headphones does not sound dead. A chromatic tuner is built in, and the AUX IN with its own volume takes a phone for playing along to backing tracks. Stereo earphones are listed among the accessories.

Mahogany neck, 634mm scale, 43mm nut

The mahogany neck is matt-finished with a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, a 634mm (25 inch) scale and a 400mm radius. Nut width is 43mm with 11mm string spacing at the saddle, and both nut and saddle are urea. It comes strung with Yamaha FS50BT or D'Addario XT strings.

Set up in-store by Guitar World Australia's techs before it ships to you. Action and intonation are checked with the frame fitted, so it plays the same at home as it does on the road.
