About this product
Overview & specifications
The DR Dragon Skin 2-Pack 11-50 puts two complete sets of coated electric strings in a single box, so you stock up on premium strings for a bargain price per set. This DSE-2/11 value pack is the heavier Dragon Skin gauge, handmade in the USA by DR, for players who like more string under the pick: extra tension and a fuller feel, with a K3 clear coat that keeps each set sounding fresh for far longer than plain nickel. Online only special: this price is for orders placed through guitar.com.au.
Heavier gauge, more to dig into
An 11-50 set pushes back when you pick hard and gives chords and riffs a fuller, firmer feel than a set of 10s. It is a favourite for blues and rock rhythm players, and the extra tension makes it a smart choice if you tune down a half step or drop to D and want the low strings to stay tight. The set runs .011, .014 and .018 plain, with .028, .038 and .050 wound in nickel-plated steel over a round core wire, which gives each note a focused, precise attack.
Coated, and still bright
DR's K3 coating is a hard, micro-thin clear film on the wrap wire rather than a soft sleeve, so it does not choke the string's ring or leave it feeling slick. It keeps sweat, skin oil and grime out of the windings, which is what kills a set early, and stays invisible on the fretboard. The second set in the box means your next string change is already in the case, or both of your guitars can run the same strings. Each set is DR's standard 38" length with ball ends.
