Yamaha YAS-26 Student Alto Saxophone

Gold lacquer body, nickel-plated keys

The body wears a gold lacquer finish while the keys are nickel plated, a harder surface that resists the wear of daily practice and keeps the action feeling the same in term four as it did in term one. Nickel also shows fingerprints less and needs nothing more than a wipe with a soft cloth.

26-style neck with a redesigned receiver

The 26-style neck seats in a receiver Yamaha reworked for a firmer, longer-lasting joint. A tighter connection between neck and body means the horn responds faster the moment the student blows, and the fitting stands up to being assembled and pulled apart before and after every lesson.

Low C# that closes every time, plus a front F key

The linkage from low B to C# has been improved so the low C# pad seals reliably, which is exactly where young players usually lose the bottom notes. A front F key gives an alternate fingering up high once they start pushing into the top of the range, and the nickel-plated keywork keeps that touch consistent.

Adjustable thumb hook and a 4C mouthpiece

The right-hand thumb hook adjusts so the hand position suits the player rather than the other way round, which matters for small hands and long rehearsals. It comes with Yamaha's 4C mouthpiece, the standard student facing that takes a reed easily and is what most teachers set their beginners up on.
