Bb with F trigger
The F attachment takes the horn down below the open Bb range and gives you alternate positions, so the low notes in a big band chart or a symphonic part sit close to hand instead of a long reach out to sixth. For a player moving up, it is the feature that opens the intermediate and advanced repertoire.
Two-piece gold brass bell
The bell is gold brass, a higher-copper alloy than yellow brass, made in two pieces. Gold brass rounds off the edge of the sound and gives it more body, which suits everything from a pit orchestra to a big band section without turning harsh at volume.
Medium-large 13.34mm bore, professional slide
The 13.34mm bore is medium-large, big enough to give a full sound at forte without needing a professional's air, and the brass outer slide comes from Yamaha's professional range. A fast, even slide is what separates a good trombone from a frustrating one, and it is the part Yamaha did not economise on here.
