Yamaha YTS-280 Student Tenor Saxophone is the tenor Yamaha shaped around a young beginner, lighter in the hands and easier to hold than most horns its size. In gold lacquer, with a high F# key on board, it starts a student on a tenor that will not need replacing once they get good.
Shaped to be easy to hold
The body is laid out to keep the weight balanced and the keys within reach, so a smaller player is not fighting the instrument to get their fingers in place. The adjustable thumb hook fine-tunes that hand position, and a comfortable hold is half the battle in making a tenor speak.
High F# key and front F button
A high F# key extends the written range a semitone past the usual top F, so the student is not caught short when the band chart climbs. The front F button gives an alternate fingering for the upper notes that makes fast passages up there smoother.
280-style neck with a 4C mouthpiece
