Yamaha MG12 12-Channel Analogue Mixer

Yamaha MG12 12-Channel Analogue Mixer is the 12-channel analogue desk for a small band, a rehearsal space or a function room that wants six mic preamps, four compressors and two aux sends in a compact metal box without paying for effects or USB. Add your own reverb through the aux send and it does everything the bigger MG desks do at this channel count.

Six D-PRE preamps

Four mono channels take a mic or a line source, two more switch between a mic and a stereo pair, and two stereo line inputs cover keys and playback. Each D-PRE preamp has +48 V phantom power and a 26 dB pad, with equivalent input noise of -128 dBu at full gain. A peak LED lights when the post-EQ signal reaches 3 dB below clipping.

Three-band EQ and four one-knob compressors

Every channel gives 15 dB of boost or cut on a 10 kHz high shelf, a 2.5 kHz peaking mid and a 100 Hz low shelf. Four channels add a single-knob compressor that shifts the threshold from +22 dBu to -8 dBu and the ratio from 1:1 to 4:1 as you turn it, with about 25 ms attack and 300 ms release. Vocals and bass are the obvious homes for those four.

Two aux sends, two groups, twin meters

Two aux sends feed a monitor mix and an outboard effect, and two group buses let you sub-mix drums or vocals before the stereo bus. There is a separate monitor output and a headphone output, two 12-segment LED meters reading from -30 dB to peak, and channel crosstalk rated at -78 dB.

Compact metal chassis

The metal chassis is 444 mm wide, 422 mm deep and weighs 4.0 kg, running on 100 to 240 V mains at 22 W. The RK-MG12 rack-mount kit is optional for anyone who wants it in a case rather than on a table.
