Built where the pro horns are built

There's no separate budget production line here. The YSL354E comes out of Yamaha's own brass workshops using the processes developed for the upper-range models, so the slide is straight, the joints are sealed and the intonation is dependable from the first note. Plenty of teachers will tell you these standard Yamahas play closer to a pro horn than their price suggests.

An easy blow for developing players

A medium 12.7 mm (0.5") bore needs less air to fill than a large-bore horn, so young players get a full, centred sound without running out of puff. The 204.4 mm (8") yellow-brass bell gives the classic bright-but-warm tenor trombone voice that sits properly in a concert band section.

A slide that stays fast

Both the inner and outer slides are nickel silver — harder-wearing than plain brass, smoother under the hand, and far more forgiving of daily assembly and pack-down. Keep it clean and lightly lubricated and the action stays quick for years.
