Buy Gretsch guitars online
Way back in 1883, an enterprising young German immigrant named Friedrich Gretsch began a little shop in Brooklyn, NY, where he made banjos, tambourines, and drums. Only twelve years later, he passed away unexpectedly. But in that short span of time, he had begun a musical dynasty that carries on into the present day. Eventually the company was run by Friedrich’s son (who was still a child when his father died.)The company remained in the control of Friedrich Gretsch’s sons and grandsons until 1967, when it was sold to the Baldwin company. However, the Gretsch decendants were saddened to see their family’s legacy begin to falter without the commitment they had always brought to it, and so Fred W. Gretsch bought the company back in 1985. He moved their operations to Savannah, GA, and the company immediately got its second wind. They began to produce new vintage-styled guitars and their classic drums, once again propelling them to their rightful position as a powerful force in the music business.
Recently, Gretsch has proudly begun a venture that combines the new and the old. The exciting new line of banjos, mandolins, resonator guitars and ukeleles features the classic Gretsch designs, utilized on instruments that were popular long before the heyday of rock-n-roll in the 1950s. New converts as well as longtime Gretsch fans are bound to be impressed with the experience of playing a brand-new antique-styled instrument.
Gretsch guitars and drums are highly favored by recording artists and studio musicians who need fine craftsmanship combined with unique tonal quality. With their family commitment to producing fine, hand-crafted quality items as well as their innovations which hae allowed them to pioneer new designs and manufacturing techniques, Gretsch has won the respect of many well-known artists such as Chet Atkins, Brian Setzer, Phil Collins, Neil Young, Bono, Charlie Wats, and Steve Ferrone.
