John Suhr started building his own guitars about thirty five years ago. Like several accepted luthiers, he was looking for the right tone, which was one thing he wasn't finding with the main makers.
In the early 80's Suhr started building guitars in the big apple. it had been during this point that the "Pensa-Suhr" guitars were born. John engineered guitars underneath the "Pensa-Suhr" name for greats like Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Lou Reed, Bill connors, Steve Stevens, Reb Beach, Pat Thrall, little Steven, Victor Bailey, Chuck Loeb, Eddie Martinez (Robert Palmer) and plenty of others.
