The Cole Clark Angel 2EC is about as Australian as a guitar gets — an all-solid Australian Blackwood Grand Auditorium, hand-built in Melbourne, with the carved top-and-back construction and PG3 True Acoustic electronics that have made Cole Clark a favourite of players who refuse to choose between acoustic feel and plugged-in honesty. From the Blackwood top to the Queensland Maple neck, the AN2ECBLBLR is grown and built on home soil.
This Angel is cut entirely from AA-grade Australian Blackwood — top, back and sides. A close cousin of Hawaiian Koa, Blackwood sits beautifully between mahogany and rosewood: warm and woody with a strong, vocal midrange, sparkling highs and a tight low end that only opens up and sweetens the more you play it. An all-Blackwood body gives the Angel a balanced, cohesive voice that flatters fingerstyle and strumming alike.
The Angel is Cole Clark's cutaway Grand Auditorium — roomy enough to push real volume, yet tight-waisted and comfortable against the body. What sets it apart is hidden inside: rather than conventional bracing, Cole Clark internally carves the solid top and back to graduated thickness, then joins the sides with a ridge system instead of kerfing. The Venetian cutaway opens up easy access to the upper frets for lead lines and chord work up the neck.
Like every Cole Clark steel-string, the Angel 2 uses traditional Spanish-heel (integral neck) construction — the Queensland Maple neck runs as one continuous piece right through to the soundhole, glued to the top, back and sides for a rock-solid, resonant neck join. It's all solid timber, built almost entirely from sustainable native Australian tonewoods.
Plug in and the Angel keeps its acoustic soul thanks to Cole Clark's flagship PG3 system — widely regarded as one of the most natural-sounding acoustic pickups on the market. It blends three sources: six individual under-saddle piezos handling the low end, Cole Clark's patented face sensor capturing the all-important midrange, and a condenser microphone for air and sparkle up top. The result is a detailed, feedback-resistant tone that sounds like your guitar, not a piezo — ready for the stage or the studio straight out of the case.
The Rosewood fingerboard and bridge sit over a comfortable 25.5″ scale with a 12″ radius and a 44mm nut — a spec that suits both pick and fingerstyle players. Grover machine heads keep tuning solid, a Graph Tech Tusq nut and saddle add clarity and consistent string-to-string balance, and subtle abalone dot inlays mark the way. Inlaid timber binding, purfling and rosette frame the satin nitrocellulose finish, which lets the Blackwood breathe and age gracefully. Strung with Phosphor Bronze 12-53.
The AN2ECBLBLR ships in a Cole Clark tweed hardcase, with a matching pickguard supplied loose in the case if you'd like it fitted. Left-handed players are covered too — order the AN2EC-LH-BLBLR. As with all solid-timber instruments, grain and figure vary from guitar to guitar, so yours is genuinely one of a kind. Set up in-store by Guitar World Australia's techs before it ships to you.
