Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s - Iced Tea

The Les Paul Standard '60s strips back the modern tweaks that have crept into production Les Pauls over the years and returns to the spec sheet that defined the Golden Era — slim taper '60s neck, '60s Burstbucker humbuckers wound around Alnico 5 magnets, hand-wired audio taper pots, and Orange Drop caps. All of it sits over a solid mahogany body and AA figured maple top, finished in Iced Tea — a translucent vintage-style burst that throws the maple figure into full relief.

Hear It in Action

AA Figured Maple over Solid Mahogany

The classic Les Paul wood pairing is here in textbook form — a solid mahogany body for warmth, sustain, and a thick midrange, capped with an AA-grade figured maple top to tighten the attack and add bite. The Iced Tea finish is a translucent vintage burst that shifts from warm amber in the centre to a dark espresso edge, with the maple's figure on full display. Sprayed in nitrocellulose lacquer, it stays thin and breathes with the wood as the guitar ages.

Slim Taper '60s Mahogany Neck

If the '50s Les Paul is the iconic chunky neck, the '60s is its faster sibling. The slim taper '60s carve sits in the hand like a Strat or SG — thin enough that big bends and quick legato runs feel effortless, but with enough shoulder to push back when you dig in. It's paired with a rosewood fingerboard, classic trapezoid inlays, and the traditional Les Paul 24.75" scale length.

'60s Burstbucker Pickups

The voice of this guitar is Gibson's '60s Burstbucker set — Alnico 5 magnets for a touch more focus and bite than the Alnico 2/3 voicings of the '50s spec, with a wind that nails the throaty, vocal humbucker tone that defined late-'60s blues-rock. They run into hand-wired audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors, so you actually get a usable sweep on the tone control instead of the bottom-of-the-knob mud most modern guitars give you. Roll the volume back a touch and the Burstbuckers clean up like an old amp.

Period-Inspired Hardware

Underneath the strings sits a Tune-O-Matic bridge paired with a lightweight aluminium stop bar tailpiece — the proven combination that lets a Les Paul sustain without choking the top end. Up top, Grover Rotomatic tuners with kidney buttons keep tuning rock-solid, and gold top hat knobs with silver reflectors finish the cosmetics the way they should be.
