The Jackson Legend Series Limited Edition Scott Ian Signature Rhoads RR22 NOT is the white V with the giant blue "NOT" on the wing — a Korean-built recreation of the custom Rhoads Scott Ian played through Anthrax's early years. It keeps the original's no-nonsense layout: a single Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, one volume knob, a Floyd Rose double-locking trem and a maple neck that runs straight through the body. Nothing to set, nothing to switch. Plug in and riff.
Scott Ian co-founded Anthrax and has spent four decades as one of the most recognisable rhythm players in metal. Early in the band's life Jackson built him a custom Rhoads, and the oversized "NOT" lettering painted across it gave the guitar its name. It stayed at the centre of the band's recording and touring through the '80s. This Legend Series version brings the look back in full: the bevelled blue "NOT" on the lower wing, a red anarchy symbol between the neck and the pickup, a crossed-letter logo on the upper wing, and "NOT" repeated in small black type along the edge of the body.
The only pickup on board is a Seymour Duncan JB — the TB-4 version, with its pole pieces spaced to line up with the Floyd Rose's wider string spread. It sits in a black ring right against the bridge and wires to a single volume control, with no selector switch anywhere on the guitar. The JB is the classic hot bridge humbucker for a reason: it hits the front of an amp hard, keeps fast palm-muted down-picking tight and articulate, and cleans up usefully when you roll the volume back. For a rhythm player that is the whole brief.
A chrome Floyd Rose double-locking bridge works with a Floyd Rose R3 locking nut, so the strings are clamped at both ends and held fast between them. Dive-bombs, flutters and big pull-ups come back to pitch, and the fine tuners on the bridge let you touch up a string mid-set without unlocking anything.
Like the original, the RR22 is a neck-through build: a three-piece maple neck with graphite reinforcement runs the full length of the guitar, with alder wings either side. With no heel block to work around, your hand climbs to the 22nd fret without hitting a step. The ebony fingerboard carries a 12"–16" compound radius — rounder near the nut for chords, flatter up high so wide bends do not choke — plus 22 jumbo frets and pearloid sharkfin inlays. Scale length is 25.5" and the nut is 42.86 mm wide, and the neck wears the same gloss finish as the body.
The pointed six-in-line headstock is finished in Pearl White to match, edged in white binding and carrying the Jackson script in blue. Jackson sealed die-cast tuners, chrome hardware and a chrome dome-style volume knob complete the picture, and the guitar ships in a Jackson RR foam-core case shaped for the Rhoads body. Set up in-store by Guitar World Australia's techs before it ships to you, so it plays perfectly the moment it arrives.
