The EFNOTE Aura 70 is a full-size electronic kit built for drummers who are tired of electronic drums sounding electronic. A 20 x 15" kick, birch-shelled snare and toms in White Sparkle, three big refined cymbals and EFNOTE's new Aura sound module add up to a kit that looks like an acoustic set from the back of the room and plays like one from the throne — with the volume knob, the in-ears and the DAW all under your control.
This is the Aura series' full-sized configuration, and the sizes say so: a 20 x 15" kick with a wooden hoop, a 14 x 5.5" snare, an 11" rack tom and a 15 x 15" floor tom, all on birch shells with double-layer mesh heads. Everything sits where your acoustic kit sits, so muscle memory carries straight over and there's no relearning your fills on shrunken pads. It covers roughly 145 x 100 cm of floor — right at home on a church platform, a pub stage or a studio corner where an acoustic kit would simply be too loud.
EFNOTE's whole reputation rests on samples that sound like real drums recorded in a real room, rather than the glossy, over-processed kits most electronic modules ship with. The Aura carries that forward with 25 editable preset kits and room for 100 of your own. Dial in tuning, muffling, level, pan and a 2-band EQ for each pad, then add punch with the global compressor or air with the room ambience — both sit on a quick widget so you can change the feel of every kit at once. Want more? Load extra EFNOTE IX instrument packs, or import your own samples as User Tones with EFNOTE's Desktop Tools app and layer them with the factory sounds.
The 14" hi-hat, 16" crash and 20" ride come from EFNOTE's new Refined series, and every one is fully three-zone: bow, edge and cup. EFNOTE removed the sensor box from the underside, so they swing and settle naturally when you hit them, and widened the sensing area so the bow responds evenly with no dead patches — ghosted ride patterns come through as cleanly as full-blooded crashes. The hi-hat uses Tru-Motion optical sensing to follow your foot through every opening, and it mounts on a standard hi-hat stand. The crash and ride also support STAK stacking for trashy effects sounds.
The new module stands upright with a full-colour touchscreen and a single lit value knob, so it takes up very little space beside the hi-hat and keeps menus out of your way. Each kit gets its own screen image — load up to five of your own, from a band logo to album art. Alt Snare flips between two snare sounds on one pad (handy for a snares-off or a side-stick feel mid-song), Zone Layer stacks two sounds on a single hit, and per-zone editing means you can put a cowbell on a tom rim if the song calls for it. The ELISE 2.0 trigger processor gives eleven inputs, with five fully three-zone, so the kit has plenty of room to grow.
Four quarter-inch outputs plus headphones give you six outputs in all, and the graphic routing screen lets you send four separate drum channels to front of house while your in-ear mix carries the click and backing tracks. A single USB-C cable sends eight individual audio channels and MIDI to your Mac or Windows computer, there's a 5-pin MIDI out for hardware, and Bluetooth lets you play along to your phone or connect to drum software wirelessly. The built-in metronome, Stroke Scope timing display and one-touch recorder turn the same kit into a serious practice tool between gigs.
The Aura 70 Standard Set comes with the sound module, kick, snare, rack tom, floor tom, hi-hat, crash and ride, plus EFNOTE's 7 Series hardware set: a snare stand, two boom cymbal stands and a tom mount. The module mount, AC adaptor and multi-pin cable snakes are included. Bring your own kick pedal, hi-hat stand, throne and sticks — the pedal and stand in EFNOTE's photos are for illustration only.
