The Telecaster turns 75, and Daphne Blue gets the invite it always deserved — a limited-edition Player II Tele that pairs one of Fender's most-loved vintage custom colours with a rosewood board, an anniversary neck plate and thoroughly modern playability.
Fender's Limited Edition 75th Anniversary Telecaster Collection marks 75 years since the Tele put the solid-body electric guitar on the map — and rather than a glass-case museum piece, this is a working player's tribute. The giveaway is on the heel: a commemorative 75th Anniversary neck plate, fitted to a short run of exclusive finishes you won't find in the regular Player II range. When this run sells through, that's it.
Daphne Blue is one of the great early-'60s Fender custom colours — light, breezy and instantly recognisable from the back of any room. Here it comes in gloss polyester over a contoured alder body, the rounded-over edges giving the classic single-cut shape a distinctly modern feel against your picking arm, set off by a 3-ply parchment pickguard.
The Modern "C" maple neck wears a smooth satin urethane finish that never drags, topped with a rosewood fingerboard for a slightly rounder edge to your attack. You get a 9.5" (241 mm) radius with comfortably rolled edges, 22 medium jumbo frets with white dot inlays, a synthetic bone nut at 1.650" (42 mm) and Fender's standard 25.5" (648 mm) scale length.
Two Player Series Alnico 5 Tele Single-Coil pickups deliver the real thing: biting twang and snap at the bridge, glassy warmth at the neck, and that hollowed-out quack when the 3-position blade switch runs both together. Master volume and master tone with knurled flat-top knobs keep the layout exactly as a Tele should be — simple, direct and fast to work mid-song.
The 6-saddle string-through-body Tele bridge with block steel saddles gives every string its own intonation and height adjustment, with the extra resonance that through-body stringing brings. Fender ClassicGear tuners keep pitch honest set after set, nickel/chrome hardware ties the look together, and it ships strung with Fender USA 250L Nickel Plated Steel strings (.009–.042).
Built at Fender's Ensenada factory in Mexico and set up in-store by Guitar World Australia's techs before it ships to you, so it arrives playing the way a Fender should — plug in and it's pure Telecaster from the first note.
