Yamaha LL16-12 ARE 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Natural is the 12-string in the L Series, aimed at players who want the full shimmer of doubled courses on a guitar that is all solid wood. A.R.E.-treated Engelmann spruce over solid rosewood, an ebony fingerboard and a passive pickup, in a Natural gloss finish with gold tuners.

All solid: Engelmann spruce over rosewood

The top is solid Engelmann spruce with Yamaha's A.R.E. treatment, which gives a new guitar the settled response of one that has been played in. Back and sides are solid rosewood, not laminate, so the whole box contributes to sustain. Gloss finish, maple and black binding, an abalone, black and white soundhole inlay and a tortoise-pattern pickguard complete it.

Round-shoulder dreadnought, 634mm scale

The round-shoulder dreadnought is 415mm wide, 513mm long and 100mm to 125mm deep, which is the volume a 12-string needs to carry twelve strings' worth of energy. Scale length is 634mm with a total length of 1079mm, keeping the doubled courses from feeling stiff under the fingers.

Ebony fingerboard, 46mm nut

An ebony fingerboard and ebony bridge give a hard, fast playing surface that suits the extra string pressure of a 12-string. The 46mm urea nut with 10mm string spacing keeps each pair of strings clear of its neighbour, and the fingerboard radius is 400mm. The neck is a five-ply mahogany and rosewood lamination built to stay straight under the added tension.

Passive SRT pickup and gold TM29G tuners

A passive SRT piezo pickup runs to a line out with no side-mounted preamp and no battery, so the rosewood sides stay uncut. Twelve die-cast gold TM29G tuners hold it in pitch, the bridge pins are black ABS with white dots, and it ships strung with D'Addario XT.
