Yamaha YRA-302BIII Alto Recorder is the treble in F for a student or ensemble player who wants a proper instrument rather than a classroom model. It follows the Rottenburgh pattern used by serious recorder makers, in an ABS resin body that needs almost no looking after.
The YRA-302BIII is a Rottenburgh-style recorder, the baroque design behind most good wooden altos, with an arched windway rather than a straight one. That shape gives a fuller, more even sound and more control over breath pressure, which is what separates a treble you can play in consort from one you cannot.
Double holes on the lower two fingers allow proper chromatic fingerings for low F# and G# instead of half-holing. The body is three pieces in ABS resin, so it can be tuned by adjusting the head joint and pulled apart for a thorough clean after playing. A fingering chart, recorder cream for the joints and a cleaning rod come with it.
