Yamaha YRS-302BIII Soprano Recorder is the step-up descant in C for a student who has moved past the classroom model and wants something that sounds closer to wood. It is built to the Rottenburgh pattern in ABS resin, with an arched windway that gives the player real control over the sound.
The arched windway is the main difference between this and a basic school recorder. It shapes the air more like a wooden instrument, so notes speak more evenly across both registers and dynamics are easier to control. The Rottenburgh design behind it is the same baroque pattern many wooden recorders use.
Double holes on the bottom two fingers give clean chromatic fingerings for low C# and D#. The three-piece ABS resin body tunes by pulling the head joint and comes apart for a proper clean. It is supplied with a fingering chart, recorder cream for the joints and a cleaning rod.
