Yamaha STAGEPAS 400BT Portable PA System with Bluetooth is a complete 400 W PA in two speakers and a detachable mixer, for the duo, the school hall and the function room that has to be up and running in ten minutes. The mixer streams from a phone over Bluetooth, so the break music is sorted without a cable. The whole system weighs 17.8 kg, which is one trip from the car.

Eight-channel mixer, two 8-inch speakers, 400 W

The powered mixer carries eight channels, enough for a couple of vocal mics, an acoustic, a keyboard and a backing track at once. It drives a pair of 8-inch speakers with 400 W behind them, rated 55 Hz to 20 kHz, and each box reaches 125 dB SPL at one metre.

Bluetooth, SPX reverb and a feedback suppressor

Bluetooth takes playback straight from a phone or tablet. The on-board SPX reverb has four programs with a parameter control, so a vocal gets a room or a plate without an outboard box, and the feedback suppressor deals with the ring that starts when a singer wanders in front of the speakers.

Phantom power, 2-band EQ and the 1-Knob Master EQ

Phantom power runs condenser mics and active DI boxes. Every channel has a 2-band EQ, and the 1-Knob Master EQ shapes the whole mix with a single control, which is the right amount of EQ for someone running sound from the stage.

Monitor and subwoofer outputs

A dedicated monitor output feeds a wedge when the band cannot hear itself, and a subwoofer output adds a sub for a dance floor without re-patching the mains. Power is 100 to 240 V, and the system draws 30 W idle and 70 W at one-eighth power.

What comes in the box

Each speaker weighs 7.5 kg and the mixer 2.8 kg. A 2 m power cord, two 6 m speaker cables, a cover panel and twelve non-skid pads are included, so nothing else is needed to run the first gig.
