Yamaha TRBX174EW Exotic Wood Electric Bass - Natural

The Yamaha TRBX174EW takes the entry-level TRBX174 and adds a figured exotic wood top under a Natural finish, so the bass that plays well also looks like it cost more. Underneath is the same recipe: mahogany body, bolt-on maple neck, 34-inch scale and a split-coil plus single-coil pickup pair. For a first bass or a spare that will not embarrass you on stage, this is the one.

Exotic wood top on a mahogany body

The mahogany body carries an exotic wood top that shows its grain through the finish. The bolt-on maple neck is a 34-inch (863.6mm) scale with a rosewood fingerboard, a 250mm radius and 24 medium frets. At the urea nut the neck is 40mm wide and 21mm deep, opening out to 56.4mm and 24.4mm at the 12th fret.

Split single coil and single coil, vintage-style hardware

A ceramic split single coil in the neck position pairs with a ceramic single coil at the bridge, each with its own volume knob and a shared master tone. Roll the bridge back for a deep, rounded thump or bring it in for bite and string definition. Hardware is vintage-style with covered tuners, and it ships with a 0.045 to 0.105 string set.
