Yamaha FG800M Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar - Matte Natural

The Yamaha FG800M is the FG800 with a matte finish: the same solid spruce top and full dreadnought body that have made the FG the world's default first proper acoustic, in a satin natural that feels fast under the arm and shows the grain. No pickup, no preamp, just a solid-top guitar that gets better with every year of playing.

Solid spruce top

A solid spruce top on a guitar at this price is the FG800's whole argument. It opens up with playing, gaining volume and depth, where a laminate top stays the same forever. Scalloped bracing under the top lets it move freely, which is where the FG's low-end weight comes from.

Dreadnought body, nato and okume

The 412 mm wide, 100 to 118 mm deep dreadnought body gives the big strummed sound for folk, country and singer-songwriter work. Nato and okume back and sides and a nato neck make it a robust guitar for lessons, camping and the back seat of the car.

A neck built for learning

A 43 mm nut and a 400 mm fingerboard radius on the walnut board suit chord shapes and first barre chords, and the matt neck finish never gets sticky. Die-cast chrome TM29T tuners hold pitch, and the tortoise pickguard and black binding finish the look.

What you get

Strung with Yamaha FS50BT or D'Addario XT strings from the factory, with a hex wrench for the truss rod. No case is included; a gig bag suits it well.
