Solid spruce top, dreadnought voice

The FG line has been Yamaha's standard-bearer for decades, and the solid spruce top is why. Paired with scalloped X bracing it opens up with playing, gaining low-end weight and volume over the years. The 412 mm wide dreadnought body delivers the big strummed sound that suits folk, country and rock rhythm.

Cutaway and SYSTEM66 electronics

The cutaway gives you the frets above the twelfth for lead work, and the SYSTEM66 under-saddle pickup and preamp put volume, three-band EQ, a mid-frequency sweep and a tuner on the upper bout. It sits well in a mix straight out of the line out, with enough EQ to tame a boomy room.

Nato and walnut, built to be played

Nato and okume back and sides, a nato neck and a walnut fingerboard and bridge make for a robust guitar that shrugs off gigging. The 43 mm nut and 400 mm fingerboard radius suit both chord players and fingerpickers, and die-cast chrome TM29T tuners hold pitch. Black binding and a tortoise pickguard finish the natural gloss top.
