Yamaha GL1 Guitalele - Natural is a nylon-string six-string built to baritone ukulele dimensions, so it goes in a backpack and still plays like a proper guitar. Every chord shape you already know works, just pitched up a fourth to A-D-G-C-E-A. The Natural finish spruce top keeps it looking like a real instrument rather than a toy.

Spruce top on a 698mm body

The GL1 uses a spruce top over back and sides of locally sourced tonewood, with a matt finish on body and neck. Total length is 698mm with a 319mm body that is 229mm wide and 70mm deep, which is why it fits in a carry-on and sits comfortably on a small lap. The rosewood fingerboard is flat, the way classical players expect, and the maple bridge carries the strings without pins. Medium nylon strings come standard.

48mm nut, guitar-style layout

A 48mm nut width and 10.2mm string spacing give you room to fret cleanly with fingers or a pick. Six strings at guitar intervals mean you can transpose in your head or just treat the A tuning as a built-in capo at the fifth fret. Chrome RM-1252X tuners hold pitch, and there are no electronics or controls to fuss with, so it stays light and simple.
