Yamaha MG06 6-Channel Analogue Mixer

Two D-PRE mic preamps with +48 V phantom

Both mono channels run through a D-PRE preamp with +48 V phantom power, so condenser mics and active DI boxes are covered. Hum and noise sit at -128 dBu with the gain wide open, and distortion measures 0.02% at +14 dBu across 20 Hz to 20 kHz. A peak LED on each channel lights 3 dB before clipping, which is the difference between catching a hot vocal and finding out on the recording.

Two-band EQ and a real meter

The mono channels carry a two-band EQ: a 10 kHz high shelf and a 100 Hz low shelf, each with 15 dB of cut or boost. That is enough to pull mud off a vocal mic or take the edge off a bright keyboard. The stereo bus feeds a pair of seven-segment LED meters that read from -20 dB up to peak, plus two stereo line inputs, two stereo outputs and a headphone out to check the mix on.

Small, tough and simple to power

The chassis is metal, 244 mm across and 202 mm deep, and the whole mixer draws 12 W from the included AC adaptor. There is an optional BMS-10A adaptor if you want it bolted to a mic stand at a singer's elbow.
