Yamaha MG10XU 10-Channel Analogue Mixer with Effects and USB is the 10-channel analogue desk for a solo act, a duo, a podcast or a small rehearsal room that wants four real mic preamps, onboard reverb and a USB interface in a box that fits in a backpack. It mixes the gig, then records it, without a second piece of gear.
Four mono channels take a mic or a line source through a D-PRE preamp with +48 V phantom power and a 26 dB pad, with equivalent input noise of -128 dBu at full gain. Three stereo inputs cover a keyboard, a backing track and a laptop. Two channels have a one-knob compressor that moves the threshold from +22 dBu to -8 dBu and the ratio up to 4:1 as you turn it, and every channel gets 15 dB of boost or cut on a 10 kHz high shelf, a 2.5 kHz mid and a 100 Hz low shelf.
The SPX processor holds 24 effect programs with one parameter knob, fed from the single aux send and returned to the mix, and a foot switch jack lets an optional FC5 mute the return between songs. The USB interface runs two channels in and two out at up to 24-bit, 192 kHz, with download details for Steinberg Cubase AI and a Cubasis LE iOS licence in the box.
The metal chassis is 308 mm wide, 294 mm deep and weighs 2.1 kg, powered by the included PA-10 AC adaptor and drawing 22.9 W. Two 7-segment LED meters read from -20 dB to peak, channel crosstalk is rated at -83 dB, and the optional BMS-10A adaptor mounts the whole desk on a mic stand.
