The Yamaha Rydeen is the complete first kit: a 22-inch Euro-size five-piece, Yamaha's double-braced hardware pack and a set of Paiste cymbals, all in the box. Everything but the stool and sticks

Five drums, a hi-hat stand, a snare stand, cymbal stands and a bass drum pedal, plus 14-inch hi-hats, a 16-inch crash and a 20-inch ride from Paiste. Unbox it, set it up and play.

Poplar shells with Yamaha edges

Six-ply, 7.2 mm poplar shells give the Rydeen a warm, punchy voice that suits rock and pop, and the 45-degree bearing edges are cut the same way Yamaha cuts them on its pro kits, so the drums tune easily and hold the tuning. Separate lugs keep the shells free to resonate. The snare ships with a coated batter head and the toms with clear heads; the bass drum carries a Yamaha Ebony front head with ring mutes for a tight, focused thump.

Euro sizes

A 22 by 16 inch bass drum, 10 by 7 and 12 by 8 inch rack toms on direct mounts, a 16 by 15 inch floor tom and a matching 14 by 5.5 inch snare. It is the classic rock configuration, with enough bass drum to fill a hall.

Double-braced hardware

The included Yamaha hardware pack is double-braced, so the stands stay put under a heavy foot and the hi-hat and pedal keep working through years of practice.
