The Yamaha YTR-3335 Advanced Student Trumpet is where a player goes after two or three years on a beginner horn. It carries a reverse leadpipe and a braced main tuning slide, features that used to sit only on Yamaha's professional models, in a gold lacquer finish.
Reversing the main tuning slide means the leadpipe feeds into the slide rather than the slide feeding into it, which removes a step in the airway right after the mouthpiece. The result is a freer blow and a quicker response, particularly in the upper register. The brace across the main slide adds rigidity, so the horn feels solid in the hands and the sound stays centred.
The bell is two-piece yellow brass with a 123mm flare, drawn to a thickness that responds easily without turning thin at volume. Paired with the medium-large 11.65mm bore, it gives an advancing student room to develop projection without fighting the instrument. The horn is regular weight, which suits a player who has built up the stamina for it.
The Monel alloy pistons resist corrosion and keep their smooth, consistent action with regular oiling, so the valves stay reliable through years of daily practice. The gold lacquer finish protects the brass and gives the horn a warm look that matches most school section instruments.
