The Yamaha AC3R ARE Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Vintage Natural is the A Series stage guitar for the working player: all-solid, with a torrefied spruce top over rosewood and the SRT2 system that lets you choose between two mic types at the control panel. Solid Sitka spruce with A.R.E., scalloped bracing

The top is solid Sitka spruce put through Yamaha's A.R.E. treatment, which ages the wood so the guitar responds like one that has been played for years rather than one fresh out of the box. Scalloped bracing beneath it lets the top move more freely for a louder, more open response. Back and sides are solid rosewood, adding depth in the bass and sparkle in the highs, framed by mahogany and cream binding.

SRT2 pickup system with two mic types

The SRT2 (SYSTEM71) combines a piezo under the saddle with a choice of two microphone types, and a blend control sets how much of each reaches the line out. Treble, bass and volume are on the panel with an AFR anti-feedback function, so the sound engineer gets a usable signal without a pedalboard in between. It comes strung with Elixir Nanoweb 80/20 bronze light-gauge strings.

Concert cutaway body, 650mm scale

The concert body is 380mm wide and 100 to 120mm deep, so it sits closer to you than a dreadnought while the 650mm scale keeps full string tension and a strong attack. The cutaway opens up the upper frets for lead lines and chord voicings above the twelfth fret. Body length is 497mm and total length 1038mm.

Ebony fingerboard on a three-ply mahogany neck

The neck is African mahogany in three plies for stability, matt-finished, with a 43mm nut and 11mm string spacing that suits fingerstyle and flatpicking alike. Fingerboard and bridge are both ebony, hard-wearing and fast under the fingers, with a 400mm radius. Die-cast chrome TM29T tuners and black ABS bridge pins with white dots complete it.

Set up and ready
