Yamaha CSF1M Parlour Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Tobacco Brown Sunburst is a short-scale parlour for players who refuse to compromise on a solid top just because the guitar has to travel. A 600mm scale and a 450mm body keep it small; a solid Sitka spruce top and a passive pickup keep it serious. The Tobacco Brown Sunburst gloss finish does the rest.

Solid Sitka spruce over mahogany

The top is solid Sitka spruce, paired with mahogany back and sides, so the guitar opens up as it is played rather than staying flat like a laminate. The body is finished in gloss with black and white binding and an abalone and black soundhole inlay, which gives a compact guitar a properly finished look up close.

600mm scale in a 450mm body

The scale runs 600mm, which is noticeably shorter than a standard steel-string, so frets sit closer together and string tension feels lighter under the fingers. The body is 450mm long and between 85mm and 105mm deep, small enough to sit on the couch or in the back seat without fuss. The nut is 43mm with 11mm string spacing, so there is no cramping for fingerstyle.

Nato neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge

The neck is nato with a rosewood fingerboard cut to a 400mm radius, and the bridge is rosewood too. Nut and saddle are urea, the bridge pins are black ABS with a white dot, and the tuners are die-cast chrome units that hold pitch once you have settled the strings in.

Passive SRT piezo pickup, line out

Under the saddle is a passive SRT piezo pickup running to a line out, with no preamp panel cut into the side and no battery to go flat mid-set. Plug into an acoustic amp or a DI with a preamp and the parlour body translates to the PA without feedback drama. It ships strung with Elixir NANOWEB 80/20 Bronze Light strings.
