Yamaha DZR10 10-Inch Powered Loudspeaker is the smallest DZR and the one that goes in the boot of a hatchback: 17.9 kg, a 10-inch woofer and the same 2000 W Class-D module and 96 kHz DSP as the 15-inch models, reaching 137 dB SPL. It suits the acoustic duo, the corporate speech job and the stage where a compact wedge has to keep up with a loud drummer. Black plywood cabinet with a top handle for one-hand lifts onto a pole.
The 10-inch cone runs a 3-inch voice coil on a neodymium magnet, which keeps the box light without going soft in the low end. Above the 1.8 kHz crossover a 1-inch throat compression driver with a 2-inch voice coil and titanium diaphragm handles the top through a 90 by 60 degree horn that rotates for vertical use.
The amplifier is rated 2000 W, 1000 W per section, with 950 W continuous divided 850 W to the woofer and 100 W to the top. Maximum output is 137 dB SPL at one metre, which is a lot of headroom for a box this size.
Converters and processing run at 96 kHz, and the FIR-X linear-phase crossover keeps the two drivers time-aligned through the handover, so a vocal stays in one piece as it moves from cone to horn.
Two combo inputs take line level up to +24 dBu at 20 kOhm. Two XLR outputs feed the next box, with channel one as a fixed through and channel two switchable between through and DSP out, which lets one speaker's processing drive a second cabinet.
Two 35 mm pole sockets give level or 7 degrees down, eight M10 and two M8 rigging points cover flying, optional UB-DZR10H and UB-DZR10V U-brackets suit walls and ceilings, and the cabinet sits at 50 degrees as a floor monitor.
The plywood enclosure has a durable polyurea coating in black, with one die-cast aluminium handle on top and one on the side. A V-Lock IEC inlet, variable-speed fan cooling and a draw of 45 W idle and 150 W at one-eighth power complete it. The box is 410 mm wide, 345 mm deep and 17.9 kg, and an SPCVR-DZR10 cover is available.
