Yamaha DZR15 15-Inch Powered Loudspeaker is the two-way 15-inch box in the DZR range, with a 2000 W Class-D module, 139 dB SPL and 96 kHz DSP inside a black plywood cabinet. It is the main for a band PA, a DJ rig or a hire stock that needs one speaker that can go on a pole, fly from M10 points or lie on its side as a wedge. The rotatable horn is what makes all three of those jobs work.
The 15-inch cone runs a 3-inch voice coil on a neodymium magnet, which keeps the weight down and the bass tight at high level. The high section is a 1-inch throat compression driver with a 2-inch voice coil and a titanium diaphragm, crossed over at 1.7 kHz through a 90 by 50 degree horn that rotates for vertical use.
The amplifier is rated 2000 W, 1000 W to each section, with 950 W continuous split 850 W to the woofer and 100 W to the top. Maximum output is 139 dB SPL at one metre, which means the amp runs cool where a smaller box would be limiting.
Converters and processing run at 96 kHz, and the crossover uses FIR-X linear-phase filtering, so the woofer and compression driver stay time-aligned through the handover. Kick and snare arrive as one event rather than smeared across two drivers.
Two combo inputs accept line level up to +24 dBu at 20 kOhm, so a hot desk output will not clip the front end. Two XLR outputs feed the next box: channel one is a fixed through, and channel two switches between through and DSP out, which lets one speaker's processing feed a matching passive or a sub.
Two 35 mm pole sockets give a choice of level or 7 degrees down, twelve M10 rigging points suit flying, optional UB-DZR15H and UB-DZR15V U-brackets cover wall and ceiling mounting, and the cabinet sits at a symmetrical 50 degree angle as a floor monitor.
The plywood enclosure wears a durable polyurea coating in black, with two die-cast aluminium side handles. A V-Lock IEC inlet keeps the mains cable in, variable-speed fan cooling handles a long set, and power draw is 45 W idle and 150 W at one-eighth power. It is 460 mm deep and weighs 25.2 kg. An SPCVR-DZR15 cover is available.
