Yamaha FS820 Concert Acoustic Guitar - Black puts a solid spruce top into a concert body that suits smaller frames and long sessions on the couch. The Black gloss finish with a matching black pickguard makes it the sharpest-looking guitar in the FS820 range, and underneath it is the same 634mm-scale, mahogany-bodied instrument.

Solid spruce top on mahogany

The top is solid spruce, so it responds to a light touch and keeps developing as it is played, and the back and sides are mahogany. Scalloped bracing supports the top without choking it. The body wears cream binding against the black gloss, with a black and white soundhole inlay and a black pickguard on this colour.

Concert body, 380mm wide

The concert shape measures 380mm across the lower bout, 497mm long and 90mm to 110mm deep, which is why it sits so easily seated. Total length is 1021mm on a 634mm scale, so reaches up the neck feel a touch shorter than on a full-length dreadnought.

Matt nato neck, walnut fingerboard

The neck is nato with a matt finish, topped with a walnut fingerboard at a 400mm radius and a walnut bridge. A 43mm urea nut with 10mm string spacing suits both flatpick and fingers, and the saddle is urea as well.

TM29T tuners, straight acoustic

Die-cast chrome TM29T tuners keep it in pitch, and the bridge pins are black ABS with a white dot. No pickup or preamp is fitted, so nothing interrupts the side of the body and there is no battery to think about. Strings are Yamaha FS50BT or D'Addario XT.
