Yamaha TAG1 C Gen2 TransAcoustic Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Guitar with Bluetooth is the full-spec version of the TransAcoustic idea: reverb, chorus and delay coming from the guitar itself, plus a Bluetooth audio link so you can play along to a track through the body. It suits the gigging singer-songwriter who wants a cutaway and a solid Sitka spruce top. The finish is Natural Gloss.
A solid Sitka spruce top sits over mahogany back and sides on a dreadnought cutaway body, 412 mm wide and 100 to 125 mm deep. That is enough body to strum hard, and the cutaway clears the way to the upper frets. Black binding, a gloss body finish and a transparent pickguard keep it tidy.
SYSTEM78 TransAcoustic electronics give you Reverb, Chorus and Delay knobs on the guitar, along with Line out Vol. The effects come through the body acoustically, so the room hears them whether or not you are plugged in. It is the difference between practising a dry acoustic and hearing the part the way it will sit in the mix.
Connections are LINE OUT and Bluetooth Audio. Stream a backing track or a lesson from your phone and the guitar plays it back while you play over the top, or run the LINE OUT to a PA or interface on stage. The onboard system charges over USB rather than chewing through batteries.
The mahogany neck is matte-finished so it does not drag, and carries a walnut fingerboard on a 400 mm radius. Scale length is 650 mm with a 44 mm nut and 11 mm string spacing, a comfortable spec for fingerstyle and open chords alike.
Open gear chrome tuners give the headstock a classic look and a smooth turn. The walnut bridge holds a urea saddle with black ABS pins, matched by a urea nut. A blue ripple inlay rings the soundhole, and it comes strung with Elixir NANOWEB 80/20 bronze light strings.
Set up in-store by Guitar World Australia's techs before it ships to you. We check the action, neck relief and intonation so a guitar at this level plays the way it should from the first chord.
