Yamaha TF5 32-Channel Digital Mixer is the console for a venue, a touring band or a production company that needs 32 recallable preamps and a mix that can be saved and pulled back up before the next show. TouchFlow Operation puts the channel you touch on the screen in front of you, so a busy changeover does not mean paging through menus. It records live too, with Nuendo Live in the box.
Touch a channel and its processing appears on the screen, ready to adjust by hand. The faders are 100 mm and motorised, with 10-bit resolution and a range from +10 dB down to -138 dB before dropping to minus infinity. Recall a scene and every fader moves to where it was saved, so soundcheck for the second band is a button press, not a rebuild.
All 32 D-PRE preamps store their settings with the scene, so gain comes back exactly as you left it for each act. That matters on a multi-band night, where the difference between a rested show and a stressful one is whether the inputs are already right when the band walks on.
Eight DCA groups let you ride the whole drum kit or all the vocals on one fader without summing them to a bus. There is a stereo bus and a sub bus, and a single expansion slot takes an optional expansion card, which is how the console connects to an I/O rack sitting on stage instead of a snake full of copper.
Total harmonic distortion is under 0.05% from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at +4 dBu into 600 ohms. Frequency response is +0.5, -1.5 dB across 20 Hz to 20 kHz, dynamic range is 110 dB at the DA converter and 107 dB input to omni out, and crosstalk between adjacent channels is -100 dB. In practice that means a quiet desk that does not colour what the preamps hand it.
Nuendo Live ships with the console for multitrack capture of the show, alongside a quick guide and a power cord. The TF5 runs on 100 to 240 V at 120 W, measures 599 mm deep and weighs 20.0 kg. An FC5 foot switch is an optional extra.
